‘MarioKart Tour’ is coming to smartphones this year as Nintendo Switch surpasses lifetime Wii U sales
Earlier this week, Nintendo announced plans to release “MarioKart Tour” to mobile phones around the world. Nintendo seems to be keeping this one close to the chest, since only the existence of the game is known. We have a large window of a release date with April 2018 – March 2019 being the only information released. Details like the worlds, karts, and characters have yet to be seen.
Nintendo is no newbie when it comes to the mobile market, either. In 2017 they released Super Mario Run, Fire Emblem Heroes, and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. All of those games gained a fair bit of popularity, so we can only expect something great from the first MarioKart game on mobile. Presumably, it will land on both iOS and Android devices.

In related news, after just a year on the market, the Nintendo Switch has outsold the entire lifetime sales of its predecessor, the Wii U. From March of 2017 until now, the Switch has sold 14.86 million units, while the Wii U across its whole lifetime only sold 13.56 million. Whatever they are putting in the water over there at Nintendo sure seems to be working. Next, let’s see if the Switch can tackle the massive demand that was seen for the original Wii…Source: Nintendo
