Samsung Galaxy S9 Goes Official, Here’s Everything You Need To Know

After months of constant leaks, leaks and more leaks, Samsung has announced their latest flagship phones: the Galaxy S9 and the S9 Plus. Although these new phones look identical to last years S8, they are packed with new features that can potentially make this a strong follow-up to what already was a great phone. So, here is everything you need to know.

Camera

One of the biggest features of the S9 and S9+ are the improved cameras, which are now capable of super slow motion video recording and equipped with variable apertures. The Galaxy S9 features a single-lens camera setup and the S9+ comes with a dual-camera system that combines a regular lens with a telephoto shooter for optical zoom and better portraits. Also, they’ve improved slow motion video on the S9 and S9 Plus and even added bad ESPN replay music. Yay.

AR Emojis

As we expected, this is a new trend that is now coming to the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus. These emojis are basically a 3D avatar that looks like the end user themselves. The process involves snapping a photo of yourself and generating the “AR Emoji.” If you aren’t happy with what is generated, you can go ahead and make adjustments.

Specs

There are a few other differences between these phones. The most obvious one is the difference in display size — the S9 Plus has a bigger 6.2-inch Quad HD+ display while the S9 has a 5.8-inch screen. When it comes to internals, you’ll get more RAM and battery capacity with the Plus model. The Galaxy S9 Plus features 6GB of RAM and a 3,500 mAh battery, while the S9 has a bit less, coming in at 4GB of RAM and a 3,000 mAh battery. Both the S9 & S9 Plus will come with either the Samsung Exynos 9810 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoCs (this will depend on the region) and IP68 water resistant ratings.

  • AT&T
