Google’s next generation of flagship smartphones, the Pixel 3 and 3 XL, are set to be released on October 9th. As is typical with the time leading up to a smartphone release, we’ve seen no shortage of leaks. However, this one is a little different as it not another render of the phone, but rather an accessory: the Pixel Stand.
The Pixel Stand is a wireless charging dock specially designed to work with the new Pixels. This does confirm that the Pixels will have wireless charging, which is great news. Thanks to the folks over at MySmartPrice, we can share a rendering of what this stand looks like.
The stand looks to be made of plastic/hard rubber and features a simple orange base with a hidden port for charging the phone via USB-C. As you can see, it is in a standing format (compared to the typical horizontal positioning for wireless charging pads), allowing you to use the phone easily while it is charging. Plus, according to an APK leak, Google is making use of this standing position to turn the Pixel 3 into a Smart Display. What will this allow, exactly? Basically, simple interactions with the phone like notifications, music, and using the Assistant — all will be made easier via larger, more accessible buttons.
We expect the Pixel Stand to be announced alongside the rumored Google Home Hub and Pixel 3/3 XL.
